TIP #2  |  Playing video files

Quicktime works great with a lot of open-standard video formats (as well as Apple's own flavors of video), but not so well with Windows-compatible video and audio codecs, such as .wav or .avi files. Back in the day, you used to be able to use Windows Media Player for the Mac to work with these files, but now that product is no more. The solution is to use Flip4Mac, which is a free download and seamlessly integrates with Quicktime.
